  • Great Collection

The track listing on this album is a who's who of early 1990's alternative(in the broadest sense.) Honestly, two tracks at the most leave much to desire. The Nirvana song "Pay to Play" makes more sense to me than the Nevermind version. The liner notes record Weezer's opinion of the song "Jamie" as having something wrong with it. It's definitely not complete, but that doesn't affect my enjoyment of the song. Beck has a recording included called "Bogusflow." I'm not sure if this was a trial recording just to see how it sounded, and to work out kinks, but the relaxed atmosphere(Beck has a hard time keeping from laughing) gives it a warmness despite the lyrical content. However, the absolute unequivocal treasure from this album is Counting Crow's "Einstien on the Beach(For an Eggman.) Imagine ...

  • I only wish there were a Rarities Volume 2

This is great. many cool rare tunes. I bought it for the Sundays B-Side "Don't Tell Your Mother." [I love the Sundays] I still buy CD's.

  • Very unusual , offbeat songs -- even for THESE bands --

Worth getting if only for the 4 by Sonic Youth , Nirvana , Beck , & Weezer . that dog & Sloan nearly steal the show & St. Johnny & Murray Attaway deserve to be heard -- Murray Attaway has a near perfect acoustic song that is begging to be used in an Excellent movie ( somewhere ).......

  • DGC Rarities

A compilation of rarities from famous (and non famous) artists from the David Geffen Company. Some tracks are really good (Nirvana, Weezer, Counting Crows, Sonic Youth Teenage Fanclub), others are simply bad (Hole, Beck, Posies, Cell).
