The base is 6" wide, and with a little packing material wrapped around it was nearly 7 inches in diameter. It was crammed into a USPS box that was only 5½" deep. Both sides of the box were bulging outward; an obvious sign that the box was too small. Part of the packing was empty USPS envelopes which provide little or no cushioning.
