About this product

Product Information

The Gilbreth family is back in this sequel to 1950's CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN, picking up where the original left off with the death of the patriarch Frank Gilbreth (Clifton Webb). Myrna Loy reprises her role as the sturdy Lillian Gilbreth, mother of twelve children; faced with supporting her brood by herself, she puts her engineering qualifications to use, albeit with some sexist misgivings on the part of her employers. Eventually she wins out, however, and in the meantime her daughters are growing up, creating a whole new slew of comic situations. A memorable performance is delivered by Jeanne Crain as the about-to-be-wed Ann, while some hilarious misadventure ensues when the younger Gilbreth kids decide to take charge of their older siblings' dating prospects!

    Myrna Loy is great.

I am a huge fan of Myrna Loy. Her role as Lillian Gilbreth is enjoyable to watch. As a female Industrial engineer myself, I enjoy the background of start of Industrial engineering, pioneered by the Gilbreths. Belles on their Toes is the follow on story to Cheaper by the Dozen; both are equally great and two of my favorites.

Fun but the music was tiresome

I did not think it was as good as the first movie, Cheaper by the Dozen. I don't know why they tried to make this one into a musical. And it didn't stay as true to the book as the first one did. But I am glad to have it in my movie collection.

  • Comedy at its best.

This is a follow up movie to Cheaper By The Dozen. [The original movie] Both movies are excellent films and good comedy. Belles on Their Toes picks up where Cheaper By The Dozen ends. Sadly the dad dies in the end of "Cheaper By The Dozen". I'd highly recommend both films to anyone. By the way neither of these films would offend your mom or grandmother. They are just great entertainment.

  • Gift for my mom

She requested this movie as she loves cheaper by the dozen. So happy I was able to find it and at a great price.

  • Part two

Cheaper by the Dozen follow up. Lovely movie , happy continuation of characters and great family viewing. This movie does have musical elements but I highly recommend.
