With Jeff Porcaro playing the drums how can you miss. If anyone ever saw this man play they would wonder how he hasn't made it into the Rock Music Hall of Fame just by hiself. He was the most wonderful, melodic, GROOVE MASTER that ever walked the face of the earth. Jeff Porcaro's GROOVE was what made musical groups like Toto, Boz Scaggs and Steely Dan win Grammy's. His GROOVE...was set apart from any other studio musician in the industry. Today, Jeff's memory lives on in the band he formed named Toto. His unfortunate untimely death in 1992 was our loss...for there will never be another GROOVE MASTER like him to ever grace the stage behind any band again. His magic can be heard in songs like Hold the Line, Rosanna and Africa. Sorry to say that in 2007 Toto does not have the same GROOVE that Jeff created but every guy in this band are wonderful musicians in their own right and should be seen as living legends themselves. The Porcaro Brothers made magical music together along with their master musician Father Joe Porcaro for which credit should be given as well. Jeff...we all miss you and listen to your GROOVE with a heavy heart. Your music is forever burned into these tracks as a significant piece of Rock History. GROOVE MASTER rest in peace!!Read full review
The album received six Grammy Awards including Record of the Year for "Rosanna", Album of the Year and Producer of the Year for the band. It reached number four on the Billboard Pop Albums chart shortly after its release in 1982. The single "Rosanna" reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album's third single, "Africa", became the group's only Hot 100 #1 hit.[1] Both songs were smash hits in the UK as well, reaching no. 12 and no. 3 respectively.[2] "I Won't Hold You Back" came next and reached the top 10 in the USA[1] and the top 40 in the UK.[2] With the success of "Africa", the album climbed back into the top 10 in early 1983.

Paich, Lukather and the boys are truly gifted musicians, writers, arrangers, and people. James Newton Howard orchestrations? Please...this is a classic album with great songwriting, amazing performances, and the stuff that musical historians will write about for years in the future. Buy it! Now!
Toto is a band that people either seem to love or hate, but they released some very good music and some lasting songs. Toto IV is their crowning acheivement. It was a grammy winner as was the song "Africa". Four singles were released from this album/cd and there could have been several more. The song "Araid of Love" should have been another single off of it, and is one of the harder rocking songs Toto released, but there's really not a bad song on this cd. I purchased the original early 80s release and the sound quality is not as good as the enhanced version released in the 90s but a great item to own.
This is one of Rock And Rolls all time Pioneer bands Toto
