A great movie more people should see.
This is a really great movie, made even better because it is based on a true story. The casting and acting is great. Apparently, I have read that this is the first American-made movie with an Asian (Asian-American) female in the lead role. Rosalind Chao is fantastic as Polly Bemis. I only wish that the movie had been longer, had referenced more geographic place names so that the viewer could get the idea where all these events took place (in the mountains of North Central Idaho), and had continued the story of their relationship beyond where the movie abruptly ended. Perhaps the film makers ran out of money. There is a museum near Cottonwood, Idaho, which houses the Polly Bemis collection of personal possessions. She is folklore in that area. Great Historical Movie/Story
I have viewed this movie several times and have read the book. My suggestion is to view the movie first then read the book to get the rest of the story. The movie covers the story well enough but the book will give you the rest of the story.
