In this comedic opera by Pietro Mascagni, a rich landowner, Fritz Kobus (Jose Bros) declares himself a permanent bachelor, but his rabbi friend David (Allessandro Paliaga) counters with a bet that Fritz will marry within a year. Failing to rise to David's challenge, Fritz soon finds himself in love with his tenant's daughter, Suzel (Dimitra Theodossiou), who is betrothed to another! This program was recorded at the Teatro di Livorno and is sang in Italian.

    L'Amico Fritz

    The quality of the production is excellent, the actors are good and the English subtitles are clear. In my opinion the voices are mediocre and "The Cherry Duet" is pathetic compared to the version sung by Ferrucio Taliavini and Pia Tassinari (unfortunatly there is no undistorted version of the magnificent Tagliavini/Tassinari duet that I have been able to discover in many years of searching). I bought it to become familiar with the entire opera and because of the fantastic low price and excellent service of RedTagMarket.com.
