    Heartbreaking real life story

    The story revolves around the 1959 murder of a Godly Kansas family in the dead of night and the relentless search, apprehension and justice that the killers would thereafter face. I enjoyed the film very much because the story was told with appropriate detail and suspense without painting the scenes with gratuitous lewdness and gore. I think I’ve read every book including In Cold Blood by Truman Copote as well as watched all the available movies and documentaries of that fateful Kansas night in November 1959. This Made for Television mini-series in my opinion is well done and provides a good representation of the actual story. I saw the original on Television and subsequently purchased the DVD version. I would buy it and watch it multiple times, again in a heartbeat.

    Old vs. new - old’s better!

    I thought the original version in black&white with Robert Blake was a better retelling of this story except for Capote’s obvious anti-capital punishment slant. This color version was still a pretty good movie, but not a great one.
