    Works just fine, but...

... It proved very reluctant to set up. The press-WPA-buttons method didn't work, which was very disappointing, as I was attempting to connect to a Netgear N300 router. I then tried using Windows 7/ IE11 / ethernet, but this also refused to work, despite detailed instructions in the printed quick-start guide. Finally I fired up my Windows 10 PC, whereupon a setup wizard immediately popped up and I was able to proceed successfully, although it did want to know my father's middle name (yes, seriously). In use, it adds a couple of bars to the reception strength.

Reliable device but not much of a boost

The device will pick up your signal and stabilise it in the harder to reach places in your house. Be aware though that the output speed is a lot less than your original speed (more than 50% less on a mobile phone). Actually; the signal of my original router downstairs is stronger than this "booster" even when I am sitting right next to it. I now use it to keep the signal on my smart TV in my bedroom more stable via its Ethernet port.

  • Good now that I’ve finally got it working!

The extender was easy to set up and connect to the router, however when trying to connect devices to the extender the instructions say that the password is the same as the one for your router. This was not the case. I then had to register and set up a netgear account, this took a lot of time as the browser could not find the web address, an hour or so later I had registered my device and set up an account to then find that the access password was over 60 characters long! Finally got my devices connected to the extender and it seems to be doing its job well.

  • WiFi range extender Netgear

Came in good time. Quality construction. I have used other extenders before and found the increase to my coverage only marginal so I was not sure about getting another one. But because Netgear is a well known and trusted manufacturer I gave it a go. I am more than pleased with this one. It was so simple to set up. It needs to go half way between your router and the area you need the weak WiFi to be boosted. My signal went up by 50 plus %

  • Not quite what I was expecting.

Setup was not too difficult with the benefit of some IT networking knowledge, might have struggled otherwise. Once connected, signal is strong and reliable. My only problem is that the title 'range extender' is a bit misleading. By default, it creates a new wireless network with a different name to the main router. To make use of it whilst roaming the house / building, it would be neccesary to leave the weak network and join a different network by going in to wireless network settings on your device. Depending on the device, that may be automatic but will mean an interruption in network connection. I understand it is possible to give the wireless network created by the WN3000 the same name as the main router, but clients (the devices that connect to it) can get confused. So it doesn't ...
