Product Information

Thomas Magnum (Tom Selleck) is a private investigator who works as part of a security team in the palatial mansion of millionaire businessman Robin Masters. Using his luxurious surroundings as his base, Magnum runs a daily battle with various criminals as he seeks to track them down and report their illicit activities. However, he also faces a constant battle with the caretaker of Masters' estate, Jonathan Higgins (John Hillerman), particularly when Magnum zooms off in the 308 GTS Ferrari that has been left at his disposal! It all adds up to an action packed show from the early 1980s that manages to capture much of the fashion and excesses of the decade. This release presents the seventh season in its entirety, with Selleck masterful as the mustachioed P.I. throughout!

This season is 7th heaven
Season 7 is a wonderful blend of action and levity. The episode with Frank Sinatra ranks as one of the top segments. The character development is outstanding and each episode has its own individual degree of introspection.

MAGNUM STILL DELIVERS.
Magnum, the 7th season, was written to tie up all loose ends in the series and was purposed to be the final season. The 8th season was a big "thank you" present from the actors to the fans, who just could not get enough and were screaming for an encore. Rightfully so. There have been few shows to match Magnum's appeal. There has been some mention about the picture quality on the 7th season. There is an explanation which has nothing to do with bitrates or how dvds are authored in general. At the end of the 6th season, some bean-counter network executive decided that in order to save money, the network would no longer use film in shooting episodes. They would instead "film" and edit shows entirely on videotape and the viewing audience would supposedly never know ... What a nitwit. Even after the lessons learned about residuals from syndication, this numbskull could not imagine future earning potential. [At least some bright bulb decided to not record over the tape "to save money!"] And even though the consumer videotape and dvd markets were far away, first time viewers of these episodes (and all other series across the board) were disappointed in the drop in picture quality which COULD be seen on our little square boxes with vaccuum-tube technology. Nevertheless, the Magnum stories and acting are top notch. Oh how I wish the original cast members would come together for another season. Maybe Thomas has finished writing his detective manual and is more of a novelist than private eye now. Of course Higgins is gone now, but the doberman's are everpresent through their descendants. T.C. probably has a fleet of tour 'copters and flies more for fun than necessity. Rick is fully "retired" but operating something semi-legitimately of course... probably owns a private security firm or such like. Bring them all back or at least pay a hack writer to do a paperback book series. Even the 8th season encore left us all wanting more.

Magnum P.I., made famous with the antics of Tom Selleck & the fast way he handle's his guns. He really is a expert in weaponds. This is both suspence & comedy as he taunts his fellow actors into his cases. This is a great viewing for the whole family. Don't forget the dobermans too. They always give a lively performance....for all dog lovers!!! I Like Tom Selleck, for how he lives his life off screen too. He seems to be the same person both on & off. Very honerable.
