Good to bring Old stock alive again.

You almost have to get these to bring back P2K older stock you might buy or have to life. The gears in these types of locomotives are almost certain to be bad. these will not be. MADE FROM GOOD PLASTIC. Then buy the gears to replace the gears from the wheels you take out. ( rebuild them) Then you have a replacement set ready to go for your next engine you buy or have. And the beat goes on.

  • If you have a Life-Like Proto loco that won't run, hops or clicks you most likely need these replacement gears.

For anyone with a Life-Like Proto 2000 EMD GP / BL /FA or Proto 1000 RS / RSC / F3 model that won't run because of cracked gears these replacement gear sets are the quickest way to get your loco running again. I don't know how many locos Life-Like sold with the wrong grade of plastic for the gear-cogs, but there must be tens of thousands of now-dud locos sitting around. BTW you need to watch a video showing just how to get the gearbox cover off to replace the gears - it took me a while to work it out. You can't just lever it off, but it is simple when you see how. It would be a good idea to get some appropriate lubricants so when you do replace the gears while you still have the covers off you can re-lubricate the drive train and the axle and motor bearings. BTW there is a different set of ...

  • Perfect replacement

I replaced the wheel assemblies on one of my oldest Proto 2000 GP7 which I purchased in the mid 1990's. It had been running a bit noisy and even though I had cleaned and lubricated the unit. These made all the difference in the world. The unit runs like new, quiet and smooth. Highly recommended item.

  • Restoration made easy

These wheelers allow me to repair and update otherwise detailed and reliable locomotives for use many years into the future.
