I bought this for one feature—the S-VHS jack on the back that enables higher resolution playback. So the picture looks as good as you'll get from videotape. Smooth operation and nice remote. Caution: the VCR is obsessed with setting its clock; if you fail to do so manually it'll shut itself down, so you have to unplug it for a few minutes to reset.

It records well, but when playing the tape it is scrambled and unwatchable. I will keep trying and if I can get it to play the way it is supposed to, I will change my review.at this time I am not happy with the results.

I purchased this to digitize old tapes. I wanted a Super-VHS in particular, and used the s-video port. This one has stabilization and tracking features that worked very nicely on old flaky tapes. It also detected and toggled between SP and EP sections of tape. Impressive! Aside from some scratches on the top of the unit, it seems to work perfectly for it's intended purpose.

Bought this SVHS VCR to convert my SVCR tapes. Using this VCR and a "elgato video capture" device to convert my tapes to .mp4 format. The combination is working great for me.
