You need to glue the two halves together but then it is a beauty; great value too.
As a mouse pad with a gaming mouse, big triple screen set-up and fast movement it works just great, which is more than I can say for dedicated gaming gel pads costing twice as much. This is about the cloth texture more than anything else. I have given it a good flogging for over a month now and the only issue was the frequency the stupid system used to clip the gel pad to the mouse pad came apart. Totally over that within a few days so joined them with cloth tape underneath and glued it with contact cement - bit of black texta to hide where it oozed through and I didn't clean quick enough. No drama since and can drag it around, even over the desk edge a bit, and it just works. Somewhat surprisingly, the smaller size of this mat over previous larger but poorer performing units from Razer ... Clunky, but does the job.
The base detaches from the mouse pad when you go to move it, due to the soft key notches in it. The pad is of foam, not gel, and feels ok, but not as soft as others. It's just clunky.
