About this product

Product Information

Before Ryu, Lara, and Altaïr, there was the Prince. The acrobatic, wall climbing, trap-dodging, sword-swinging hero returns for another installment in the iconic Prince of Persia series, the first on Xbox 360. Crafted with an enhanced graphics engine that powered Assassin's Creed, the game emphasizes swift, agile movement across horizontal and vertical space in both indoor and outdoor settings. Prince of Persia also introduces a distinctive visual style. Characters and backgrounds are designed to resemble a vivid painting, one brought to life with striking animation.

The storyline for this installment is a departure from previous titles. The Prince has sold his soul to a dark god named Ahriman for a chance to hone his hunting skills against the world's most vile beasts. He was tricked, however, and was turned into a beast himself, forced to prey on the daring men who tried in vain to slay him. The Prince begins a path to redemption by working for the dark god's brother, Ormazd, the god of light. His goal is to restore balance to the world by stamping out Ahriman's corruptive influence. To ensure The Prince fulfills his task, a mysterious female named Elika agrees to fight the insidious evil alongside him. The two can perform special attacks together, solve puzzles, and assist one another in exploring the world.

While the acrobatic action is reminiscent of earlier installments, the world is more open-ended in this game, allowing for greater choice while progressing through ancient Persia. Combat is now solely focused on one-on-one duels with enemies instead of group battles. The Prince wields a scimitar in one hand and a clawed gauntlet in the other. One-button controls let you seamlessly create combos by alternating sword attacks, jumps, and gauntlet grabs. The gauntlet can be used in a variety of ways, such as allowing The Prince to slow his fall by latching it onto surfaces. Though Prince of Persia is a single-player game, online users can download additional content to continue their exotic adventures.

The "Limited Edition" comes in collectible packaging and includes a "making of" video, a digital mini-strategy guide, a digital art book, and the original soundtrack from Prince of Persia.

Beautiful to watch and play. Engaging story too.

The game is really fun and the story and characters are compelling. For a game from 2008, the graphics and art style both hold up really well and are gorgeous to look at. The limited-edition box is really nice looking too and it comes with a neat CD for the soundtrack. Yes, the soundtrack and music are great too. It really feels like a swashbuckling adventure.

  • Prince of Persia still amazing.

This game is seriously fun, unique in comparison to other contemporary games, and very beautiful. Several game mechanics are innovative or just plain one of a kind (you can continuously talk to your partner and she will constantly say new and relevant things). Underrated when it came out, and still competitive in 2019.

  • Prince of Persia 2008 review

This is an excellent game. It branches away from the story line of the main Prince of Persia series that is all about the sands of time to something completely different. The story in this game is about the prince (who is only a prince by name, not title) helping Princess Elika purify the land of her people that has been corrupted by an evil deity known as Ahriman. It uses cell shaded graphics, which I am a big fan of. It has great gameplay that is 75% platforming and 25% combat. The great thing about the gameplay is that all your actions flow together. The game is designed so that no single action has to be performed and then stop. It can immediately be followed by another action, allowing you to create long chains of attacks in combat that can dispatch enemies quickly. In platforming you ...

  • PoP - typical Ubisoft game

The story is nice and it has a good ending... The visuals are very good The gameplay is good when you are walking around, but poor during fights But the game has a HUGE negative side: it looks like everything you do is a repetition of what was done in the very first phase. The first 30 minutes of gameplay are good and the remaining hours are a repetition of the first 30 minutes. Ubisoft did cut the same corners in Assassin's Creed. I will think twice before buying the next game from them. By the way: the bonus disc that comes with the limited edition is not worth it. I was expecting a true making off. What i got was a very short film picturing game desiners in their offices... very poor content. i would rather get as a bonus from Ubisofft a blank Blue Ray disc, I would have a better use ...

  • Seamless Expression of Motion

This is a fantastic start to the Prince of Persia series on the Xbox 360. It's not too long, but just long enough. The story takes around 10-14 hours to go through. It's longer if you try to obtain all 1001 light seeds, but it was such a magical game. The dramatic visual style and the flow will keep you hooked for hours. It is also equally visually engaging to watch for anyone sitting next to you (it's a single player game). While the game has it's shortcomings, I did not find any bugs or glitches in this game. Prince of Persia has been well polished and was not rushed out. The design team spent over 2 and half years crafting this masterpiece. You will read reviews that criticize how easy the game is, but look at it another way. It is an eloquently designed game that does away ...
