I thought the description said accessories not included so I was surprised when it arrived without software. Without software it's basically just a really big paper weight. However, from Amazon I was able to order this: USB Audio Video Converter, VHS to Digital Converter, Video Capture Card Digitize from Analog Video VCR VHS DVD, for Windows 7 8 10 which provided software and hardware to connect the box to my PC. Fortunately, I had the needed cable to connect the two devices together and I was able to convert my wedding VHS tape to DVD format and use ImgBurn to burn to DVD

The system is designed to work with Windows 7/Vista. It won't work with newer versions of Windows. The only redeeming quality is the VHS playback quality which you can use with other video playback software.

The ION Audio VCR2PC VHS copy box is a useful, albiet a very utilitarian VHS player. It's only purpose is to copy your old VHS library onto a computer to either save as files or to DVD. It doesn't have 4 heads, or any of the later VHS bells and whistles; not even a clock. It doesn't need them. It does strip Macrovision (which you won't find in the manual) and gives a reasonable copy. Sure, you can use an analog TV card to a computer and save a pretty file... except for the Macrovision. The copies may look sort of low quality; they really are just VHS-- that is low quality by todays standards. You are still getting the 230 to 250 lines of resolution that where there. The software can store a file or right to DVD. One thing to remember if you are transfering 100 old VHS tapes... the heads will probably get dirty. Have a good head cleaning tape. It may get too dirty even for that; you might want to learn how to clean heads. I had to twice in one old tape. The problem is the old tapes, not the player. Unless you babysit the player, you will end up recording longer than the tape. There are freeware programs like avidemux that can cut the end off the file very quickly. There is a modest editior with the box as well.Read full review
This device exceeded my expectations. It brought all my old memories back to life again. It didnt include any usb cables, but these are easy to find at any computer store. The driver had to be downloaded from ions website, but that was a small hiccup considering how easy it was to setup once the driver and video converter was installed. The video quality is superb, but more important is that this is a dual use device with the ability to capture video from a camcorder, and the built in vcr functions just fine. All in all, if you're looking for an easy way to convert old vhs tapes and camcorder footage to digital, look no further than this device!

I love it. It made copying my old VHS tapes so easy. I can either directly copy to DVD or external drive or most of the time because of age I copy it to my computer and edit it for better quality. If your looking for something to do a great job on those old VHS tapes, then this is for you. It is easy to install and the software and drivers can be downloaded from ION website if you loose your disk. It's unobtrusive and you can do other things on your computer at the same time so your not just stuck watching your VHS tape replay while it is being copied.
Great device for those who have a lot of VHS tapes with home movies you don't want to be lost with time. The software interface is a little limited but good enough to transfer to computer and then use a third party video editing application. Overall the product didn't disappoint. Will use it until all my VHS tapes are copied and then sell it back on eBay at a low price. I think we should all do this -just pass it on - it's not worth it to pay full price on a new one, all you need is just to convert your tapes to digital format and then it will stay unused - no reason to keep it after that.
simple to use very easy , it takes a little figuring out how to install drivers but i mastered it.

What a simple product, anyone can transfer VHS tapes to there computer using this device. Using the VCR2PC and EZ video converter software packaged with the device makes this transfer process childs play that anyone can do with great results. I was transfering VHS tape 10 minutes after cutting the tape open on the box. So if you have older VHS tapes you wish were on DVD, it would be hard to go wrong with this product.
So far, I'm enjoying this purchase. I've been transferring home videos from the 80's and it works just fine. It's very easy to use.
