At first you feel you're watching a great movie but by the end you realize that you feel you were in the movie yourself. This film was so well done, so compelling, it broke the fifth wall. The film was powerfully true to the book not only true to the written words but also true to the spirit of the book. Exceptional acting, directing, cinematography, musicality, and did I mention the subtly epitome of the acting? A family film that will touch children and adults alike. You can learn something about the world, and life, from which you and your children can only gain and cherish. In one word this film is: Beautiful. Thank you for this film. Thank you.

A classis film based on Harper Lee's only novel of the same name. Atticus Finch, a small town attorney living in Alabama, defends an innocent Black man accused of violating and murdering a white woman. An all white Jury convicts the Black man on circumstantial evidence, and the town is out for his life. The interwoven story of the novel dealing with a mysterious neighbor's son,is threaded throw the novel, as well as the trial. In the end, the mysterious son, who walks about only at night, saves two children from the real killer of the white woman.Bo Radley is the mystery man, and he turns out to be portrayed without dialogue, by non other than Robert Devall in his first film appearance.
I was tutoring a child that had to read it for school and wanted him to see the movie as well as myself. The movie was great. The children who played their parts were great as was Gregory Peck. When I read the book afterwards, I would always hear his voice in the father's quotes. The book centered itself on all the life in the south, all their struggles and how it was hard to be a Christian in such an atmosphere. The movie centered it's focus on the issue of black versus white. That was really only about 1/4 of the book. They missed so many other wonderful and amazing things that make the south different from the north.
Gregory gives a wonderful performance as a lawyer who is a widowed father of 2 children who defends a wrongly accused black man with a compassion that will touch your heart, and enjoyable watching to see his son and daughter in their experiences growing up.

Everyone needs to see To Kill a Mockingbird! It's as powerful today as when it was produced. Unfortunately, these same events still exist. Will we never learn?? More and more people are quoting portions of this movie. It is a truly classic movie that will tear at your soul and will remain in your mind forever. The outstanding acting coupled with the powerful lessons come together to create a story that nobody should miss. To Kill a Mockingbird is definitely a must-see!!
This well-known classic is wonderful. I gave it to my 14 year old to read and report on, he really enjoyed telling me about what was going on. Fun summer mystery (Boo Radley) mixed with important social events, both viewed from a child's eyes. I bought the movie on ebay (new, vhs, $2.), and we watched it. He enjoyed comparing the movie and the book.

To Kill a Mockingbird is just as wonderful and captivating on the screen, as it is when reading the book. Both give us a perfect setting for Harper Lee's poignant and inspiring story of a family of the south. Her characters are portrayed so exactly on screen that they are every bit as good and fascinating as in our imagination when reading the book.
