  • True to History and Outstanding Drama

When I was first given this series I was prepared to be bored, but from the first episode on Catherine of Aragon I was hooked. Keith Mitchell's portrayal of King Henry from late adolescence to old age is great acting. Ann Boleyn is obnoxious enough to blunt the effect of her inevitable execution, but with humanizing moments. I loved the portrayal of Ann of Cleves, who was portrayed as funny and the smartest of the wives. Katherine Howard is appropriately unlikable. The only wife portrayal I am not enthusiastic about is Katherine Parr; I believe she was really a more attractive person, but even this episode is very well done. Overall this is the best dramatization of this era in history I have very seen.
