Dynasty Warriors 7 is the first Dynasty Warriors game in several years that's really made me fall in love with the series again. It's throwback to the classic features that made the serie's great provide a interesting mix of old & new, and serves us a good healthy portion of nostalgia. I have been a DW fan since Dynasty Warriors 2, and anyone else that has been a fan that long (or longer) can appreciate the ride we've been on. Each successive DW title doesn't revolutionize the genre, nor will it win any awards. But for the niche of gamers it caters to it provides a unique experience filled with action packed massive battles, an awesome rock music score filled with adrenaline pumping guitar riffs, fantastic memorable characters, huge collection of stages, and a great story. That's what you can expect from a Dynasty Warriors game. What sets DW7 apart? Well besides the 16 new characters, more stages, new looks and outfits for every character. But that's come to be expected with each new entry with the Series. The real creme da la creme features are: A Brand new Faction (Jin), The biggest Story Mode in the series (No exaggeration! Each Faction's story can take between 10-15 hours per story depending on the Players skill or pace) with well over 40 hours in the Story mode alone. Story mode also introduces a new Allied Camp phase before each battle where you can go around and talk to all the officers and soldiers on your side before a battle. It adds greatly to the game atmosphere. But there is also a Conquest mode that expands the replay value 10-fold. Offering hundreds of stages with several scenarios each with randomly generated enemies, Cities to explore, Money to earn, and Allies to win. Play conquest alone or with a friends. It also supports Online play. The Cherry on top of Dynasty Warriors 7 is the new Weapon system, allowing any character to use any weapon. Of course each character still performs best with their signature weapons. With those they can perform an Ex attack. Dynasty Warriors 7 has abadoned the bland button mashing of DW6 and brought back the Combo system of the previous games, a welcome reprieve. It also surprisingly reintroduced the good ol' Stat Drops that have been absent for far too long. Enemy Officers can drop Swords and Shields giving you bonuses to Attack and Defense, and Platters of Food increasing your health, longtime fans will remember this system. Base Captains also make a reappearance, guarding spawn points, and bases, and dropping their coveted Defense Increasing shields. DW7 also sports a whole horde of DLC. Which will add even more nostalgia to your game. With a selection of outfits from DW1-6 you can dress your favorite characters how ever you thought they looked best, there is several weapon packs to increase your assortment of weapons ingame. Several Sound and Stage packs are introduced to give you access to classic stages and music from earlier titles. There is an assortment of Stage packs from Dynasty Warriors 2 which include remastered DW2 stages for your enjoyment. There is also some For Fun stuff to purchase, Silly Weapons and Outfits for all the characters. I have purchased all this stuff for my own copy and can vouch for it's impressive quality and bargain pricing. The only DLC that runs a little expensive is the Fantasy Outfits, but they are worth it if you want to see your characters dressed in outfits baseball uniforms, to highschool bookclub outfits.Read full review
Dynasty Warriors 7 is a hack and slash video game and the seventh official installment of the Dynasty Warriors series. It is developed by Omega Force and published by Koei. The story is based on Luo Guanzhong's historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Pros: 1. Improved graphics and gameplay, with the support of stereoscopic 3D features and PlayStation Move support. 2. Enriched story mode and conquest mode for all 4 kingdoms 3. Dynasty Warriors 7 is shown to be past the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, by introducing a new faction, Jin as a major power. 4. Renbu system is removed, allowing many more sets of combos to be used in the game. 5. Each character will have the ability to interchangeably wield two weapons at a time. 6. Unique Weapons are returned after being cut from Dynasty Warriors 6. 7. Support animals are introduced in DW7 to aid you in battle! 8. Downloadable Content will be available. 9. DW7 offers many difficulties for Story Mode. Cons: 1. There are still some broken techniques and moves. 2. In Story Mode, you are not allowed to choose the character you want to play, but rather the Kingdoms which will force you to play certain characters. 3. In some battles in Story Mode, you are required to do certain tasks. 4. Some "unbreakable chain attacks" are still breakable against certain overpowered characters. 5. Pang De and Zuo Ci are not returning along with the confirmed returning characters. Overall, this game is a must for hack and slash lovers, or those who enjoy a rich Chinese storyline.Read full review

Well whats not to love about this game... not only did all the characters get a nice modern overhaul on their looks, but you can still access all the old costumes via downloadable content. Also, this time around you can equip a character with any weapon. Compared to Dynasty Warriors 6 this is like playing a completely different and new game. The gameplay goes fluidly from cutscenes right into battle, the overall look of the game is less cartoonish and comes across much better. The Story mode is comprehensive and I've played every Dynasty Warriors game since number 2 and The story even seemed different. It seemed much more realistic and accurate to what actually happened. Overall I would have to say they took all the best things from the previous installments, added some nice new features, and created the best game in the series yet. Not to mention the addition of a fourth Army. Conquest mode is a much better spin on the freeplay mode from the previous installments. Not to mention the additional weapons and maps that are available for download. Add to all of this the Xtreme Legends expansion and you have hours and hours of gameplay, that IS NOT REPETITIVE like the previous titles. I almost didnt buy this after playing DW6, but I am glad I did. Finally I have faith in this series again! Simply AMAZING!Read full review
