    Memories -

    My father was stationed at NAS Anacostia on March 3, 1939 when First Lady, Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, christened the Yankee Clipper. I have a couple of newspaper clippings, one with the headline "World's Largest Airline - ", well it was at the time. There's the program, a Guest Flight Pass, a world map of air routes flown by PanAm, and a couple of flight information brochures in the folder. Now I have THE model of the Boeing 314 flying boat, NC18603 (the back of the newspaper article has an add for a Philco Radio for $42.25, a GE refrigerator for $119.50. The radio is almost the size of the fridge).

    For those of us that think the Flying Boat is one of the greatest airplane designs of all time, this model is the next best thing to owning one. And with limited space in my COVID office, it is a perfect size.
