      Surprisingly good!

      I bought the full 3-box set of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries after starting a couple discs of the first series from the public library. Phryne is smart, independent, and realistically concerned about the plight of women, minorities, and society's downtrodden in 1920s Melborne, Australia. The series involves itself deeply in a number of social issues and does a good job of painting the class distinctions of the era, largely without prejudice. Independently wealthy, Phryne uses her funds to help others directly and indirectly as a private detective. She develops an uneasy but increasingly workable relationship with a local police inspector. While she is not the "marrying kind" (her words), she has a series of liaisons that usually result in insight to her cases and further character ...

      interesting stories for that time period

      Stories are interesting, scenery very colorful and appears to be authentic for that time period, and acting is good. The only problem I have is that I have dificulty hearing many of the soft-spoken conversations due to poor hearing and the Australian accents. I am sorry that the video does not have closed caption as I know I could enjoy it further,

      Enjoyable Mystery entertainment

      I have really enjoyed the Australian mystery series, set in 1920's Melbourne Australia, with the worldly and adventurious Miss Fisher. A fine set of stories, that touch on subjects of today as well as the past, great settings, locations and decore, the character development is excellent, a great cast. If you like The Murdoch Mysteries, though a bit different, you should enjoy this series too. My only complaint is that the 3rd series (season) has fewer episodes than the first two. Well worth the watching.

      Sassy Classy Aussie

      I have watched these over and over again. She is so stinking cute, but she carries a gun and climbs ropes and sneaks in to get her man (or woman)! Miss Fisher is an investigator who seems to be wealthy, but I am not sure how she made her money, though she may have inherited some of it. This is set in 1920's Australia and has an interesting back drop of WWI with white Russians and Bolshie's. Her clothes are stunning and I don't know if they fit the period or not, they just look fan-tabulous!!! The novels of Kerry Greenwood come to life as only Essie Davis can deliver! Highly recommend this series!

      A feel Happy movie

      This is a very entertaining, fun loving film. What I really appreciate is the costumes and especially Miss Fisher's different & lovely wardrobe, I just love the way she dresses. I always feel good after watching one of her films.
