Product Information

This portable system is well built, smartly designed, and pleasing to the eye. A large, well-balanced handle makes the CFD-V17 easy to carry. It also folds down neatly, so it doesnt detract from the systems aesthetic appeal. Although Sony stuck with a traditional black-and-gray design, the CFD-V17s sleek appearance looks right at home on a desk or bookshelf. The top-loading CD player is easy to operate and has a solid lid that opens with ease and snaps shut securely. A simple lever switches between CD, AM/FM radio, or tape. The layout of the top-loading cassette player is straightforward, and the large function buttons are built to withstand many hours of use. Since the cassette player also allows you to record tapes, Sony made it easy to dub tapes directly from the built-in CD player or radio. Simply load a blank audio cassette, hit Play on the CD player (or tune in a radio station), and press the record button. The CFD-V17 uses a pair of 4-inch speakers that arent detachable.     Excellent product without the modern complexities

    My father had this model, but he simply wore it out after years of enjoyment. He bought a new CD/Cassette/Radio unit, but it was difficult to operate because it had too many features (Blue Tooth, etc.) and the buttons were hard to see. I was so happy to be able to get him a unit just like the one he loved! I hope this one lasts as long as the last one.

    poor sound quality

    I would normally go to a store and pick one with the best sound when shopping for a boombox. the sound of this one is not good. the mega base is just what a normal sound should be and still lacks bottom end.

    Great price great sound and quality

    This Sony boom box has a nice sound. It's a decent size for setting on counter a shelf or to carry to a spot to set down. For size stereo sound is real good. Both cassette and CD players work well and too have a nice sound.

    not all components are operational

    The cassette unit does not work. I had primarily purchased this to play some old cassettes. Bummer. However, it was one of the few available with a sound adjustment know. This was missing on all the other ones for sale on e-bay.
