    Heavy user, not a pro

    These chains are all I use. I buy five at a time so I don’t have to sharpen them in the field. When the “begin” to dull I switch it out and clean/flip the bar. I sharpen them at home with a grinder all at the same time. The settings are always the same with all the chains. Switching them out early results in minimal grinding on each tooth thus extending the life of the chain. There is also very little stretch with stihl chains. Finally, I use full skip chains because I use maximum length bars on the saws I have, I cut bigger trees easier and I have greater reach when limbing as well.
