    Dragon Tattoo Trilogy Roars!

I bought this item to replace a copy damaged by last year’s winter temperatures. The extended edition has more material than the Hollywood version and closer to the heart and spirit of Stieg Larsson’s novels. The movies are an exceptional and extremely painful watch, dealing with issues of facism, antisemitism, misogyny and a government’s abuse of power against an individual on all levels and treatment of the same individual who is not perceived as “normal”. I have viewed it many times and discovered things I missed in previous viewings. This movie is more appreciated by me since the passing of the actor Michael Nyquist (Michael “Kalle” Bloomquist) in 2017.

not a good review of DVD

The movie was not as clear as other DVD's I've purchased on eBay...I returned the product...first time that ever happened to me.

  • Best Foreign Movie(s) in the past Decade

Although sexual abuse of women can be a tough subject, the 3 books and now movies in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series are so well-written and brought to the movie screen that it is easy to see why they have been a world-wide phenomena. I read the books first (which I would recommend), and was not disappointed with the movie version. In fact, I was interested in how the female lead would be played in the movie. I was not disappointed since Noomi Rapace does an outstanding job as L. S. For any of you who have not seen these movies, you have a wonderful treat in store.

  • Intense

I can't find anything bad to write about this film. Intense, well defined, characters appealing, excellent script and a fabulously grim story. I enjoyed every riveting minute of the three discs. The 4th disc with actor interviews was quite interesting also. I did like the fact that this film could be viewed both with subtitles or voice over in English. Pleasantly surprised.

  • The definitive version of the Lisbeth Salander trilogy

This seller had a new item for a fantastic price. These three movies contain the extended French television miniseries but with Hollywood-style production values. Noomi Rapace is the definitive Lisbeth, and there was no point at all in the English language remake of Dragon Tattoo. This product works just fine on North American dvd players and also in computer disc drives. Yes, there are subtitles here (this is the Swedish language version), but on a good screen you stop noticing that you're reading after a few minutes. Noomi is stunning and believable, despite the absurdity of the role. Lisbeth lives. This is essential for all fans of the series.

  • Great entertainment and enthralling

I read all the books, loved them all. I have watched the American version of The girl with the Dragon tattoo. Although the quality of the movie is great, I have to say the Swiss version of the movie is by far closest to the book. I did find all three of these copies not to be a great quality, they were rather dark. I guess they were filmed that way. All in all an entertaining and enthralling trilogy!

  • Better than the Hollywood production

I was and am a fan of the recent big budget production of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, as well as the original book trilogy. I bought this set of the original Swedish production to see how it stacked up with the book and the recent movie, and boy, does it stack up well! In many respects, it's far superior to the recent big budget version, and more faithful to the books. The scenes and actors are, by and large, more believable. The difference between what the characters' lips are doing and the dubbed dialogue is a little disconcerting at first, but it disappears after 10 or 15 minutes, or at least it did to me. I highly, highly recommend this DVD set.

  • The film series is well done and the titles for each of the three parts is perfect.

It is a very popular cult movie and the film series lives up to its reputation. I’m thankful that I bought it on eBay. I will always appreciate it.

  • Salander and Blomkvist Rock!

I've seen the Swedish versions before and really wanted to add these to my collection. So much better than the American version (of which only the first in the series was made and then they skipped the next two and went on to the fourth). Anyway, if you get the chance you need to see these versions.

  • Extended version follows the book trilogy closer, but adds a bit as well. English dubbed, or subtitles, great either way.

One of the best trilogies on film ever made. Must be able to handle violence, shock, and disturbing moments or you should not watch. Not for the faint of heart. Justice may or may not prevail depending on your point of view. Bad guys are definitely exposed.
