I've used this adapter to turn wi-fi connection into ethernet with no problems . Even though they are used , it's my item of choice . I've also purchased TRENDNET 647 and noticed something big . After the linksys is installed you can browse the internet with just the adapter . The modem is disconnected from the computer during the installation . With the TRENDNET you cannot connect to the internet even though the installation procedure is the same . That leads me to believe the linksys is a more powerful device
I bought one of these for my parents, who had a Magic Jack, and a WiFi hotspot. Since the Magic Jack is ethernet only, and the hotspot was WiFi only, a bridge was needed to connect the two. Once everything was set up it ran flawlessly for years. My parents are still using it.
