Hundreds of items purchased on Ebay. 99% of the sellers have been really good. The DSO2D10 I originally purchased would not recognize USB thumb drives. Otherwise I was very happy with the product. Upon informing the seller that I needed to return it, but preferred a replacement rather than a refund, I expected some kickback. However the next morning estore-tools sent me an email stating that they had shipped a replacement without me having returned the faulty one. Estore-tools is my #1 seller.

    DM 4070 LCR Meter

The DM 4070 works well. I tested all functions against known value "New" components. While not a highly expensive Lab Quality Instrument, it does a very adequate job of measuring component values, which would be otherwise have to be taken for their labeled value,( for vintage components that are apt to change over time / prior usage) or in some instances, where component values are completely unknown. Considerably as reliable as an average "Null Meter", without construction. Calibration function works well. While I'm confident in my knowledge and abilities, It's best to read the DM 4070 Instruction Manual prior to use.

Good meter except for small inductors

This meter is a good value if you don't need to measure devices near the lower extremes of its measurement range. Actually, let me be more specific. The specifications state that it will measure down to .01uH and .01pf. It seems to do fine with resistors and capacitors but not so much with inductors at the low end. And small inductors is what I need it for. I'm working with inductors from about 13uH down to just over 1uH. At 13uH it is off by 1uH (meter reads 14uH). As the inductors get smaller the error gets greater. A straight piece of wire about 1 inch long measures 1.7uH. If you are dealing with inductances of say 25uH or greater then I think this will be a good value for you. If you're in the same boat as I am then you should look elsewhere. My meter is going back.

  • Nice meter.

The meter is decent and matched most readings with a better meter fairly closely. I bought it to do inductive measurements and I have no other meter for that. The cables are junk and barely function at all as alligator clips, but you can use them to probe without clipping. So if you have other cables, that might work better... Instrument gets 5, cables get one or zero stars. Hard to beat for the price.

  • Overall a good value

Tested on a couple of caps and one choke and it seems to be accurate. The only real gripe is that it came with a dead battery(9V). Turned it on and nothing happened. Took the battery out and it measured only 5V. The problem appears to be that when the unit is placed in the nylon carrying case the ON/OFF button can easily be pushed if anything is touched in that area of the case. Be prepared to replace the battery. The plastic case is pretty cheap but it does come with a rubber protective boot and nylon carrying case which work well other than the above problem. I may skip the carrying case and just use the cardboard box it came in to prevent the power problem.

  • I bought it because it had a 1999 microfarad capablility

FIRST I like the on off button and the auto-off when the meter looses interest. My gram scale does this in about a minute and it drives me nuts. Second I like the 20 megohm scale for checking capacitors for leakage This meter when used with the skill learned by reading and understanding the two books noted below will be sufficient for most people. Otherwise expect disappointment and occasional dumbfounding. You will not likely get more for your money. Example: A $5000 HP bridge will measure a 100 volt source in series with a 1 megohm resistor and show 100 volts. This meter will not even be on the same planet. Very high impedance circuits require this just to avoid total failure of what they were doing. . For L C and R components $ under 100 meters 4 or even 3 digit meters ...
