The SALTIST STAR DRAG CONVENTIONAL REELS are designed with the latest trending features, strong yet compact and light. The 11 reels in the series will hold line classes from 12- to 50-pound test mono and are strong enough for braid sizes up to 100-pounds. The drag system can apply as much as 25-pounds of pressure to the spool. Constructed from machined aluminum, anodized for maximum corrosion resistance, these reels are sturdy and durable yet high performing. The true freespool of this star drag system allows for longer casts under a variety of conditions and uninhibited spool pay out is ideally suited for fishing live bait. The 6.4 to 1 gear ratio is fast enough for jigging yet powerful enough to put big fish on the deck. While the 5.1:1 gives you more power for fighting larger game.

  • Sets a new standard

In the upper mid-tier range (with Shimano Torium, Okuma Metaloid, Penn Fathom) the new Saltist is the best of the bunch. It really does feel like a step up from the Saltist BG from the last few years. Internals mirror the Saltiga for the most part, and it's almost as smooth as its costlier brother. The colorway is the best thing out there, but the side plates scratch just like the BGs did. Overall, for the price, it's the top of its class and I can't recommend it highly enough. The 15 is really narrow, great for jigging.
