Great & attractive lock, but could be refined.
Love the way this lock works. It is so easy and was pretty easy to install ... but do not do anything else with the lock if it is doing an update. There was no warning on this and I tried to do something while the lock was updating and it stopped the update and I had to call customer support to totally reset the lock and start over. Most of the time the bluetooth connects quickly and enables the ability to lock or unlock the door. Every now and then you have to touch the lock a second time. I also love the way the bolt is tapered so that it engages and disengages better. I do have an older Kwikset keypad lock that does not have this and it tends to stick where you have to jiggle the door as it is attempting to unlock it ... particularly when the battery gets weaker. I did have one other concern in that I was notified that my batteries were low after one week, but since I have alternative ways to enter my house I've ignored the one warning and the lock continues to work and I've gotten no more warnings. I also have the experience with the older lock where the batteries last a reasonable length of time so I'm pretty confident I should get about the same performance with this lock. First Time Kevo Buyer
I have been integrating various IoT devices into my home environment over the last few years and decided to try the Kwikset Kevo device. Before purchasing this Kevo product I had read negative opinions of the initial first generation Kevo so I decided to focus only on the second generation product. So far I have had the Kwikset Kevo in operation for a few weeks without any issues. The Kevo devices are Bluetooth-only, but have the option of integration with a home WiFi system with the optional purchase of Kwikset's Kevo Plus Connected Hub. Great product, easy to install and set up. I replaced an existing Kwikset manual lock, and the installation was simple. The smart key allowed me to re-key the new Kevo to match the other locks in my house, now one key works everywhere. The programming was simple, and I was able to send an e key to my wife, and now her cell phone opens the lock as well. No more carrying a set of keys to get in and out of the house.
