This uke is wonderful. It has a classic look with the open headstock yet it is subdued with a plain brown binding around it's body..the cedar top a very nice tone and enough punch to be heard while playing with others. It is the 5th uke in our family and compares very well with all the others. I do like the tenor size very much for my big fingers and it plays like a dream

There were a number of issues I had to correct before it was playable. The fretboard was slightly warped at the 13 fret, but filing that fret wire down helped with the problem. The nut slots were very rough and sharp causing some nicking of the strings. That was an easy fix, but a little dissapointed about the quality control at Kala. It is a beautiful instrument to behold and I like the gloss finish. It is very rich and bright and I am going through some string changes so that I don't get so much string slap. I like it but I don't think I will buy another Kala. This is the third one that had issues. I had to send the others back.

The combination of a cedar top and acacia produce a very beautiful tone. The music from this ukulele is wonderful. This high quality instrument is also very beautiful.

The Kala cedar/acacia is one of the best bargains in the ukulele world. I have the 4-string, 6-string, and I just ordered an 8-string. It's a beautiful instrument, and it sounds better than it looks. Whatever the number of strings, you can't go wrong with the Kala cedar/acacia tenor.

I bought a blem, which was only in the lacquer; however, all the wood fitting and frets and binding were first rate. I own several guitars before purchasing this.. and I can say that, mechanically, it is well worth the cost.
