I have been using my HP 8620 printer for a while now and the pictures that I have printed were never that good. With this HP A616 photo printer the pictures are so much better quality. Not even close. The printer came like brand new and there were no issues. Would recommend to friends and family.

So I bought this photo printer, it comes and I put my SD card in and it tells me there's an error, so I take it out and enter it again, well it's telling me error, so I figured it was my SD card not working, I go out an buy another SD card, brand new one, but again it's telling me there's an error, so pretty much I bought a broken photo printer...thanks alot lol...

I'll make this very brief -- I am very technically minded and you can trust my brief assessment because I also have experience to back my views up. PORTABILITY: The printer came in a bag reminiscent (in volume and weight) of an SLR camera bag that would hold a full-size body AND an extra lens. About six times the volume of a fanny pack (twice as high and deep, 1.5x as wide). It's something my wife leaves in the trunk, but you wouldn't want to carry it for miles on foot. SPEED: It takes roughly two minutes to squeeze out a 4x6 photo. There is almost no boot-up time (the wait is never going to bother you), and it only takes a few seconds to read memory cards when they're put in. EASE OF USE: to use it effectively, you only need to know how to open it (pull down the paper output tray on the front AND pull out the paper input tray on the back) and how to load the photo paper (put the perforated tear-away strip UP, as in it's the last thing that passes through the printer). Did I mention it does red-eye reduction and some other processing by default in settings? And you can crop just by zooming. WYSIWIG: It's nice that we get good use of the included LCD. When setting up an image for print, literally what you see is what you get; whatever you see on the screen is exactly what you see on the page when you're done -- if you've zoomed in, for example, you're going to print a cropped, full-page image of whatever you've zoomed in on. This is really cool. HANDLING PRINTS: The high-quality inks stay wet for a good five minutes after the printer's done with them, and even after that they stay tacky. You MUST have a flat, safe (i.e. not reachable by children) surface to dry them on; I would imagine the print driver allows for insertion of dry-time delay but I haven't checked). PRINT QUALITY: Everyone in the room with me (two parents, a wife and a child) agree the color is excellent. The eldest and my wife agree the prints are "picture-perfect" and though the color is PERFECT (on HP paper, at least), I can see obvious evidence they're inkjet prints when I examine them up close. REAL LIFE USAGE: I gave it to my wife for some recent holiday and it's already come twice on vacation and was used both times. I carry a camera everywhere, which made this especially nice. And though I can tell the prints are from an inkjet, we've still already hung several of its works on our walls -- the output is definitely frame-worthy. But I would not put two prints in a photo album facing each other; in that situation I would expect them to fuse irrecoverably. So far, we've only put prints in the pages with the plastic over the pictures, and they look great! We're totally thrilled with the printer. The speed / dot pitch trade-off is worth it, and since you're only printing the shots you really want, the wait per print is also no big deal. You'll have a great time with this printer, and think about what you can save if you print your own holiday cards rather than going to a studio!Read full review
The HP photo printer is a wonderful way to print your pictures without having to be hooked up to a computer. Although you can print directly from your computer or camera as well. All you need is a memory card, some photo paper, and ink it's that easy. The photo quality is remarkable considering the size of the printer. I have not actually owned any other portable photo printer since purchasing mine 6 years ago. I highly recommend this printer for anyone who enjoys printing high quality pictures with ease. You will not be disappointed!
I have this same make and model and I love the quality of this printer great for lil photography jobs that needs prints on the scene
