This is a decent representation of the IDW version of Ultra Magnus. It’s quite different from the G1 version, but it’s a nice tall rangy version with a lot of character. It has a good robot mode, and a nice alt mode which is a truck with car carrier trailer. It also comes with Ambus, a small character that turns into a futuristic looking car. It can plug inside Magnus’s chest In robot mode. The only minor criticism I would make is that there are some issues with Magnus holding his guns. They come lose quite easily. My figure wasn’t bad in that regards, as long as I ensured I tightened its hands around the weapons properly, but they were still a bit loser than the usual closed port based hands. On the other hand (no pun intended) having opening hands is a nice feature. The weapons all combine into a large war hammer. The robot mode is a big leader sized robot. The truck is a bit smaller than I would have liked, but it is fine, and can carry deluxe sized autobot vehicles on both levelswithout much bother. I actually bought this because I wanted an Ultra Magnus with a good Earth mode. The new version of Ultra Magnus in War for Cybertron: Kingdom isn’t bad, but it is essentially a remould of the Siege version, and the cab and trailer is rather wanting, in my opinion. Neither that, or this is the G1 Ultra Magnus, but I would say the vehicle mode of Combiner Wars Magnus (this version) is closer. The Kingdom version has a more G1 faithful robot mode, however, as does the Siege version.Read full review
