My mother had a full set pf these wonderful knives which I inherited. Unfortunately they were lost in a move. I know there are plenty of choices on the market. Most are much more expensive. I chose this set because I believed in their long lasting value. Mother used them for over 60 yrs and they were still great. I'm very pleased with this purchase and enjoy using them. You won't regret buying them for yourself.

Pleased with the knives ... did not feel as comfortable in my hand as my old ones, but quickly getting used to them. Very sharp,. Am a dishwasher person but have decided to follow instructions to only handwash. My husband likes the long thin ones the best, I like the wider ... finding a set we both like is good! Only thing that bugs me is the logo sign was applied to the holder crooked .... aaarrrgghhhh!

I researched what kind of knives to buy in the mid value range. These knives are weighted well and are extremely sharp. Others had a concern that they would rust, but with proper care (hand washing and drying) they retain the good surface. Excellent set of knives.

I just got tired of $20 knife sets that always needed to be sharpened and they felt like junk in my hand. So, I decided to buy a set that would look as nice as they felt and worked. I also got tired of serrated steak knives that would massacre my beautiful steaks. I already knew Chicago Cutlery was a higher quality knife. So I started shopping for my new set. I found this one and the price and look were great. Once I got it home, I am pleased to say it's everything I hoped it would be.

These are excellent knives. I am not a professional chef, so I'm sure that I don't know everything there is to know about knives, but I do cook A LOT and these have been an absolute pleasure to use every day. Their weight and balance feel great in your hand, and these knives are super SHARP! I picked this set in particular over other Chicago Cutlery sets that i was looking at because I prefer the slightly rubberized grips on these ones versus the slick plastic handles on some of the others. My hands are often wet during cooking and these just feel more secure in my hand. The wooden block that they came in is gorgeous and looks great in my kitchen. I wanted to mention the steak knives that come with the set just because they seemed to be a point of concern in the other reviews I read about these knives before I bought them. People have said that the steak knives are flimsy and snap in half if dropped. I saw posted pictures of some that were broken in three pieces. So that could be a small concern and something to keep in mind as a possibility of happening. I decided to buy them anyway because the steak knives are just sort of included and not what I was really buying the set for. I figured if they broke they would not break the bank to replace. So far, I have used them daily and none of mine have broken. They are all still sharp and in great shape. The steak knives are made of one piece of metal without the rubberized handles that the rest of the other knives have, and feel light in your hand. I would have preferred if they had the textured handles like the rest of them but they still look nice. I suppose they could potentially break if dropped at an unfortunate angle on a hard floor, but I'm using them to cut steak, not hurling them at the walls or on the floor. I also read that these will rust easily. Being as this is a nice set of knives, I have chosen not to find out if they will rust if left wet. I hand wash and dry mine after using and they are as beautiful as the day I bought them. Most nice knives are not recommended to be placed in the dishwasher, and these are no exception, so I would suggest putting in the extra 30 seconds to wash and dry them yourself to keep them pretty. Overall, this is a great set of knives, perfect for any kitchen!Read full review
