The Contax 28-85mm 3.3-4.0 lens is an excellent value. It is extremely sharp lens, particularly stopped down a stop or two it can compete with primes. Granted, if you are shooting low light or want really shallow DoF (depth of field), you should go for a prime, no questions asked. It also has a very versatile range. The rendering from this lens (and other Contax Carl Zeiss lenses) is phenomenal; images just look more lifelike than other lenses I've used and I do less post-processing. There are a few drawbacks though. The MFD (minimum focus distance) is a little on the long side for my taste. Also, I wish it had more aperture blades for better bokeh. Then, finally, it is a larger lens. It may be a little ungainly on a smaller body. They didn't spare any expense when making this all metal, multi-glass cannon.Read full review
Use this lens on a Sony A7 Mark 2, image quality and colors are very good even wide open, very sharp stopped down to f8. Lens is heavy and not well balanced on camera, But the image quality makes it worth it, and the 5axis IBIS on the A72 helps a lot.

I like the images taken by this lens but I hate the size and the weight. The distortion is higher when compare with Zeiss prime lens. And it is easy to get flare when face direct to light source. However, if you use it well it can make the best pictures for you. Vivid color and high satuation. But with soft edge in 28mm
I use it as a frequently-used lense
