I really like this thing. You have to be careful because a little vibe can go a long way. But its easy to cut back on the effect and really make it tasteful. There is a trim pot inside of the newer model to get rid of the volume increase that a lot of people noted on the earlier versions. One watch out that has NOT been addressed is the delay between hitting the on switch and when the vibe actually start vibing. There are mods out there that can take care of this if you're into doing mods. I happen to use a by-pass switching system on my pedal board, so I just turn on the vibe and leave it on. I then pop it in my chain with my by-pass system - so I don't have a problem with the delay. Plus its probably only an issue if you click in and out of vibe throughout a song. The delay is only a few seconds, so it shouldn't be a problem if you turn it on for a song and leave it on. But I highly recommend this pedal. Very full sound and very adjustable. For $50-$60 new, it's also a great value.Read full review
This is my second Cool Cat effect (I also have the vibrato unit of this line), which sits in the signal chain before my JMP Mark II of in the effects loop of my DSL50 and it sounds great on either amp. Lots of swell and vibe with this unit which is extremly well built. There is a oticable volume gain when the unit is turned on. However, there are cool mods also to be found on the web that address this. I did the strobe/volume equalize mods which really enhanced this pedal further. The strobe mod makes the light on the effect pulse in tempo with the speed setting giving you visual fedback of the speed setting. The vol mod simply lowers the output to the volume of the effect when bypassed. I am very impressed with both my CoolCat units and recommend them highly.
Great pedal! I needed a pedal to give the tremolo effect of my Fender Twin Reverb when I am playing through my other amps. Even though this isn't a Tremolo pedal, it is basically the same sound with a pulse effect added. I pulled it up on You-Tube and the sound blew me away. I pulled up other similar effects but this was the one and you can not beat the price. The switch has to be pushed with your toe and not the ball of your feet or it won't engage; other than that it is the perfect pedal for me.
When I purchased this pedal I was really looking for a uni-vibe, dejavibe or a rotovibe pedal. Their prices kept making me wait till later and I am glad I did. I saw a review on u-tube of the cv-1 and was impressed and now that I have one I would not part with it. Though not as versatile as the higher priced pedals with foot speed control the sound is amazing. The only draw back so far is battery life but the pedal states that a power supply is needed for optimum performance so that is no surprise. Just be sure to purchase the 9-volt supply and you will be pleased.
Absolutely fantastic univibe pedal, and great value for money. The 3 control knobs give plenty of options and they are behind the pedal so you can't bump them. Excellent for Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd style psychedelic sounds. It boosts the volume a little but that doesn't matter to me since I like having it switched on nearly all the time when I play.
