Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Film Cameras
Excellent camera. I've used mine for about two years. Make sure you buy one that's been serviced recently, ones that haven't been cared for sometimes have issues with the mirror getting stuck in one position. The best features of this camera are its excellent bright viewfinder, tiny, light, and extremely sturdy body, a shutter that doesn't make a threatening, loud sound, just a spirited clatter (good for not scaring animals), no frills manual design, and an excellent selection of M42 lenses such as the Takumars. Shutter speed goes up to 1/1000 - I have a film camera that does 1/4000 - but if one has a good strong neutral density filter, one rarely needs shutter speeds that fast. The light meter isn't particularly accurate compared to 80's cameras, I only use that switch for previewing depth of field, not measuring the light. I recommend a handheld meter to accompany the Spotmatic.Read full review
An amazing camera, great feel, good meter, excellent lenses. An icon of SLR photography.

The Pentax Spotmatic was one of the best cameras made, along with the Asahi lenses. The sound the the Spotmatic is way different from the K1000 by its quality.

Good camera, clear lens. Just needed a cleaning...as advertised.

Stop down metering is half the fun of shooting with the old Spotmatics, so forget about the Spotmatic F and its full-aperture metering (it won't work with all of your lenses anyway). Although I prefer the look of the earlier Spotty models, the extra bright viewfinder of the SPII wins out for me.
