    Leadership personified

This book was recommended to me through the jocko willink podcast. Having read the ambrose book band of brothers and seen the series is found this to be a worthwhile companion to the others. Major winters humble approach and smooth narrative makes the book fly by. I read it in one sitting. The leadership lessons he learned and rated are valuable and well articulated

  • Beyond Band of Brothers

I purchased this book as a "bookend" to Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose and The Biggest Brother by Larry Alexander. Though Band of Brothers offers a broader picture of Easy Company and The Biggest Brother is written by a professional journalist, Beyond Band of Brothers offers one man's personal insights into leadership and valuable insights they are, indeed. As an Army officer for "the duration," Major Winters exemplified professionalism--and heroism--of the highest order and expressed dissatisfaction with the breakdown of discipline at the end of the war as well as rampant careerism within the officer corps. A return to the virtues he espouses rather than getting one's "ticket punched" for the sake of advancement would do much to improve the ...

  • Why I bought Beyond Band of Brothers

I first read this book when i borrowed it from my dad, which was sometime after reading Band of Brothers and seeing the mini series. Like many other people in the world i fell in love with the story and wanted more. i found it in this book. reading about the exploits of easy company and it's commander Major Dick Winters was alot of fun. the book's easy to read and exciting. Reading about Major Winters was also really cool because of his high morals and the way he only does things if they are the right decision. His time in the military was spent very well, with high standards. i am proud of him for being able to recount his whole army experience without being ashamed that someone would read about what he did later. i decided to buy it because i saw it on ebay for alot less money than a ...

  • Wonerful and Touching

I enjoy history. This account of Major Winters, joining the army, them Officer Training School. The continuous training our young men endured. Then off to England and to Normandy and into battle. This is a good reading and gives me an idea of what our men went through during those battles. The crimes and atrocities of war which he writes about, Hollywood cannot always put into pictures what our fathers and grandfathers went through. I understand now why my own dad never talked about that time. Major Winters was a God fearing man and we need more men like him. I found myself in awe of these men. A must read if you saw "Band Of Brothers".

  • Great Supplementary Book

I'd finished reading Easy Company Soldier and found a reference to Beyond Band of Brothers, as well as two other books written by other men who served in Easy Company. I've just completed Richard Winters' book and found it to be exactly what I'd expected. Great detail about Easy Company's experiences and engagements--both major and minor--without getting bogged down in typical military history books' minute information. His memoirs are truly reflective of how he perceived his role as a member and commander of Easy Company, how he felt about his men and their overall responsibilities, and how he contributed to the overall accomplishment, or at times shortfalls, of missions assigned to his unit. Well-written and in my humble opinion a truly great supplementary source if someone is ...
