Nikon AI-S is a fast telephoto lens for producing smooth bokeh effect and good contrast as well as sharp pictures. This 135 mm f/2.0 lens has a built-in hood and nine straight diaphragm blades. This lens is ideal for shooting in studio settings and outdoors with low contrast. Heavy construction of the Nikon camera lens makes it durable and long-lasting. Nikon AI-S has an optical construction composed of six elements in four groups. This Nikon camera lens weighs 860 grams and feels solid to the touch. It measures 80.5 x 93.5 mm (31.69 x 36.81-inches). This 135 mm f/2.0 lens focuses as close as 1.3 meters or 4.5 ft. Filter size is 72 mm. Super fast speed allows for shooting in low light situations. Extra stop lens speed gain gives photographers a lot of depth of field control. Nikon AI-S is suitable for shooting stage performers, wildlife, candid people shots, and is used by photo journalists around the world.

    A useful and historically great lens.

    It's heavier than new lenses which use plastic bodies instead of metal. It is only a manual lens; no automatic focus here. It can be linked to modern mirrorless cameras using aperture priority; I use it manually, the way I learned 50 yrs. ago. I use this lens as a prime objective for astrophotography in combination with a night vision device with splendid results, wide open at f:2 and infinity. It is more durable than any lens produced today, with smooth, positive focus. I have used it with a Nikon D7100 and with an adapter for a Fujifilm XT30; both yielding a very pleasant, desired result.

    Old School Goodness

    This is a fantastic AI Nikkor lens. Tack sharp, excellent color rendition and contrast. Definitely a prime lens you should own. Bargain priced compared to any of the D or G series lenses. I shoot in manual mode 95% of the time and I really find the older Nikon lenses are a resource any serious photographer needs to explore and enjoy.
