      EHX 5mm is easy on the wallet and at home in a bed room or studio

      The EHX 5mm is a very handy as a clean amp head at bedroom volumes. It compares with a fairly big 9V adapters (500mA). I did not like the over drive sound at high volumes, as there was little to no tone control, but with pedals doing the OD it sounds great. I used it with an inexpensive 1x12 extension cabinet (Kustom 30W) and it was plenty loud for practice or mic'd. I think on it's own you'd have trouble competing with a drummer and you'd want a much louder head amp such as Orange Micro Terror 20W or big combo like Marshall DSL 40W. Nothing else really compared EHX 5mm for price and portability, the larger EHX amps don't seem worth the extra money as the price is close to other big name micro amps such as the ones from Orange and Vox.

      EHX 5mm Amp is great little amp and a great value!

      This little amp has exceeded my expectations. It drives my 8 ohm Fender SC112 speaker (Celestion Seventy 80) incredibly well. Tone wise it seems to be fairly "flat" and un-colored in "bright" mode. The "norm" mode definitely rolls off the highs. I was considering using an equalizer pedal with it but now it doesn't seem necessary. My pedals all work very well with it and the output seems greater than 2.5 watts to me. Very low noise. If it had a headphone jack and aux input I'd sell my other amp!

      Loud little sucker with good tone.

      Don't let the 2.5 watts fool you- this little sucker gets loud. A good effects chain with an eq. & gate on the end helps a lot with output tone quality as this is a power amp with a top boost. I bought the 44 mag first & it was WAY TOO MUCH for my application. Can't believe this amp is so small & puts out the volume it does.
