Nostalgia and worshipping the past
Something happens to favorite things a few decades later. Somehow they are valued more than before or somehow differently like a star in the distance, no longer bathing in the sunshine as it was in 1977 and early eighties, longing to bring its hopeful youthfulness and sense of newness back. And it seems its the worship and deification of the first films and its characters that this film pays homage to so well, although it bends it's knees low disabling any innovative or new venture into the unknown that the original creator always ventured to do and it is his signature influence seen in every frame in this production.Something happens to favorite things a few decades later. Star Wars 7. The winning formula that made the originals great, is back.
Some critics, including myself, thought it was a bit of a rip off of A New Hope, but on a second viewing, it is rather obvious why they did it this way. A great way to introduce new characters with an already proven formula.
