About this product

Product Information

Orwell's dystopian masterpiece, in a stunning new cover look for his great works 'Who controls the past controls the future- who controls the present controls the past' Hidden away in the Record Department of the sprawling Ministry of Truth, Winston Smith skilfully rewrites the past to suit the needs of the Party. Yet he inwardly rebels against the totalitarian world he lives in, which demands absolute obedience and controls him through the all-seeing telescreens and the watchful eye of Big Brother, symbolic head of the Party. In his longing for truth and liberty, Smith begins a secret love affair with a fellow-worker Julia, but soon discovers the true price of freedom is betrayal.

I was checking out audiobooks by Tara Moss on eBay & this one was at the best price. I thought I hadn't heard it, so I bought. Very quick processing by Seller, arrived on time, packaged well, sealed, new, BUT I found I already had it, but hadn't listened to it. It was my fault, considered returning it, & it was made easy thru' eBay & I was able to return it to seller. A seller with great items who was very accommodating, thank you for understanding.

  • Love how the title had been presented. Relevant to the book itself.

I read this book as a teenager and did not fully understand all the meanings of words. That book had no Forward from earlier editions. This book has an Appendix (The Principles of Newspeak) at the end of the book and greatly addresses the issue of the missing forward. Reread with relish and the plot/situations could be applied more to today's world than it would be in 1984. Enjoy a book that change the English language and the world.
