Hultafors Craftsman's Ground Knife GK Heavy Duty With Sheath

This is a far better "survival" and woods craft knife than the thinner Mora. The handle is also bigger (stronger, tougher, than Mora). There is much better control because of that. On the other hand, you may prefer a thinner blade and thinner grip. I have complete confidence that this will be even more, "indestructible" than a Mora. The steel is probably 1085/1095 SAE. I sharpen all of my knives to razor sharpness, and this knife is properly hardened and tempered. It also has more of a, "guard" to protect against sliding forward on the blade. I detached (read: cut away) the "flap" part of the sheath and use a dangler system.

  • Top critical review

    Not impressed

The knife came very dull. It feels bulky in the hand and extremely heavy compared to an equivalent Mora knife. I had bought this to be a backpacking knife but I could probably carry several Mora knives for the same weight. It was also supposed to be a Scandi grind on the blade but it clearly has a second bevel.

  • Solid knife, great price

Basic, ergonomic, and solid. I use this knife frequently when working around my property, and when I go camping. The thick, sharp, high carbon steel blade works great for camp tasks, small wood processing, game processing and bushcraft. The handle fits well in my palm, and the price is great for budget minded buyers. I only gave it 4 stars because the sheath could be better. Great buy, solid blade, and I highly recommend this knife.

  • Best For The Price

This is a great heavy duty knife. The blade is 3/4 tang carbon steel. The handle is of a plastic molding. It would be easy to rubber dip the handle to get a little more grip to prevent slipping. This knife can take a beating. The blade is a little short for thick wood batoning but can easily beat through logs small enough to hit the tip of the blade. The thickness of the blade makes this knife very durable along with the steel type and treatment used to strengthen it. Razor sharp after hard duty. Very proud of this knife. I bought 4 extras to have because they were so cheap!

  • Sturdy Camp Knife

Love this knife. The handle is made for big hands and longer than a Mora. The blade is heavy duty with a rough but 90-degree spine. While not full tang, the tang is two-thirds or so into the handle which is also considerably further than a Mora. The secondary bevel is small and can be sharpened as is for a strong edge or easily taken out for a finer cut. A true workhorse of a knife with fine Japanese steel. The sheath is nothing to write home about but at $12 dollars for this knife, I can live with it or modify to meet my needs. Lots of coverage on You Tube and none have been negative about this one.
