  • Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer

Excellent buy as a used book. There was nothing to dislike about this book. One could only enjoy it. Excellent story,But why should it not be. Jeffrey Archer never disappoints his readers. The fact that it was about George Leigh Mallory the Everest Climber made it all the more gripping. We still will never know for certain if he reached the top of Everest before anyone else. From his skill and experience and being such a natural at climbing a rock face, and the true stories of how he amazed skillful climbers, even in his very early years, I think he touched the summit before anyone else. You do not need to be a rock climber to enjoy this book, it has genuine interest for anyone.

  • Thumbs up to author, Jeffrey Archer!

This was an excellent book that explored the very-real possibility of Mt. Everest being reached first by George Mallory. Using letters, other documents, facts and logic, etc., a very real explanation of his being the "first" is quite plausible. Makes you think! Included also are many photographs of Mallory and his "team", his family, his schoolmates, etc. Enjoyable book that is very well written!

  • A Man Worth Remembering

In Paths to Glory, Jeffrey Archer tells the story of George Mallory, the first man who may have made it to the top of Mount Everest. This fictional telling of this incredible man and story grabs the reader right from the beginning and I found myself unable to put it down, despite knowing the end of the story in advance. In typical Archer style, the story flowed seamlessly and you found yourself wanting Mallory to make it to the summit. With the information learned with the discovery of Mallory’s body in 1999, Archer takes the approach that Mallory did make it to the top of the mountain before falling on his descent. Archer follows history closely and brings this man who deserves to be remembered alive again.
