      You tend to forget how good the storylines of many of the earlier series of Doctor Who were. The move to Jon Pertwee's Doctor had seen the series lose Patrick Troughton with Jamie as well, a major blow. Yet almost immediately afterwards a new image was there. Gone the galactic hobo, in came the earthbound Timelord with a series of evils to battle, some caused by man's greed and pollution, others by alien forces. Not only that, but in colour too, and therefore the need for better effects, locations and gadgets. All that said, the early seroes of Pertwee's era were a proving ground for later progress. Of these Inferno broke the mould in a lot of ways. The Doctor is plunged into an alternate dimension where the Brigadier is part of a fascist state that smacks of 1940s ...
