A priceless classic, MY FAIR LADY has become one of the most popular musicals of all time. Based on George Bernard Shaw's 1913 play PYGMALION, the film swept the Academy Awards. Cecil Beaton's lavish sets and costumes and Lerner and Loewe's winning score became the background for George Cukor's striking mix of styles that ranged from the fantastic to the abstract in his telling of the tale of a waif who's educated into being a lady. Egotistical linguist Professor Henry Higgins (Oscar-winning Rex Harrison) bets his friend, Colonel Hugh Pickering (Wilfrid Hyde-White), that he can transform Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) in time for an important society ball. His gamble could pay off--but the spirited Eliza is more of a handful than the Professor could have predicted. As she slowly becomes more refined, and less reliant upon him, Higgins realizes, to his confusion, that he can't live without her. The film was nominated for 12 Oscars and won eight, including Best Picture and Director.

    This is a treasure...great story...delightful lyrics...absolutely timeless masterpiece! For the Jeremy Brett (Sherlock Holmes) fans, watch him sing and dance trying to court Audrey Hepburn. Equally amusing is Theodore Bikel who is employed to strip away the mask of this "Fair Lady"! The frank opinions, set to music, are ever so "Politically Incorrect" yet undeniably enjoyable. Whether it's Rex Harrison as Professor Henry Higgins, Wilfrid Hyde-White as Colonel Hugh Pickering, or Stanley Holloway as Eliza's father, a man of very questionable character, we are talking top professional actors in this brilliantly composed Lerner and Loewe play - with everyone at the top of their game.     Delightfully Uplifting Family Oriented Movie. G rating.

    The best movie ever made. Audrey Hepburn at her best! She worked with a coach and sang every song in the movie. It was jack Warner who later brought in Marni Nixon to dub her, as he was dissatisfied with the quality of her voice. Audrey was devastated. Her voice can be heard however, in "Just you Wait", which was a mix between her and Nixon.
