I replaced Athlon II X2 250 with this quad core CPU, and HDD(drive C) with SSD. The total cost was about $70, and my old desktop's processing speed has increased twofold or more.

the new CPUJ was easy to install and seems to be working well. 50% increase in single core performance, and almost 300% multi core performance.

Dell inspiron one 2305 with athlon ll x 2 1.6 ghz originally. With now an athlon ll x 4 2.5 ghz, it definitely performs better like a newer computer in multitasking and everyday use. Just swap processors and that's it.

Too bad amd quit producing these processors, they're getting harder to find. AM3 is becoming obsolete now, although their are still quit a few AM3 based main boards available. This particular processor is probably the lowest power (45w) quad core, which makes it great for NAS or home server applications.

I've been running Windows Home Server 2011 since, well, 2011. I've used several CPU's in it over the years. The last CPU's used in it were a 95w Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz Quad Core, then a 45w Athlon II X2 235e 2.7 GHz Dual Core. This is just a regular old tower with a cheap Gigabyte motherboard in it. The X4 idled at around 29 watts, and the X2 at about 12. The server spends most of its time idling, so over time that would add up. Seeing this for a super low price, I figured I'd give it a try. This CPU idles at 14.4 watts, not too far off from the X2, with 2 more cores. Home Server supports transcoding, which means there MIGHT be a benefit to using this CPU, but I've never noticed any issues even with the X2. I'm thinking this will be the last CPU in this machine until it either dies or is replaced with something newer. Like I've already said, I've had several (at least 5) different CPUs in this machine, and haven't noticed any functional difference between any of them. This being a very low powered quad core makes it perfect for this use. Read full review

This AMD Athlon II 610e is a very nice Low Power 45watt CPU. This works great in a Mini HTPC Case combined with a Nvidia GTX 750ti GPU and a Sandisk 240gb SSD. This computer is perfect streamer and gamer at 1080p resolutions! I found every part on Ebay lightly used and built this for under $400. Cool and quiet!

This cpu is efficient and has great performance for the low power usage it requires. It is not a high end cpu but for what it is I am very happy with it.

Everything good. Fast CPU for a good price. Runs cool with stock fan unit. Needed to run DDR3 memory on a Asrock N68C-GS FX motherboard (that is why i bought it online)
