Ahhhh; Spidey
Spider-Man was/is (?) Marvels BIGGEST seller/hero because why? He IS a pimply teenager; going through all that angst & turmoil. Plus Stan Lee made the comic a NYC Tourist Guide (why he became so popular as ‘college guest speaker’ in the 1960’s on); he WAS ‘the nice face’ of that 60’s youth rebellion. NOW - you throw together twisted humour and McGuires slap-stick brilliance - & u have a FUN+STUNNING MOVIE; that had the cash backing to do ANYTHING. I can NEVER see Tobey McGuire the same way after the ‘fake previews’ in TROPIC THUNDER and (admittedly it was all ‘processed’) SIN CITY. Bit like him stepping outside LOTR without being a douche. Sam Raimi - what can be said? The guy helped INVENT the horror/slasher revival that included original/ groundbreaking camera work. EVIL DEAD series ... Spider-Man was/is (?) However; do have suspicion these Raimi 3 will become my favs. ....plus you get to pick BRUCE CAMPBELL’s character ; since he in every Raimi film. 😂
