I expected a much better kit from Tamiya. This one was disappointing.
I'd never bought 1/35 scale Tamiya models, in the past when i made 1/35 armor I bought monogram and Revell (yeah I'm that old). Tamiya were always 2 to 3 times the cost, but, they did have selection nobody else could offer! Anyway, I've built the Lindberg 1/35 T55 and honestly, it was as good as if not better than this kit. Here's what's wrong with it: the wheels fit much too loosely when you try to glue them on, I checked the rest of the kit to see if maybe they included some sleeve or something in between but nope, loose is how they fit! When you slide them on there is nothing holding them on straight so I did one side of the wheels at a time and blocked it so the wheels were in the air... Also the main sprocket and front idler wheel fit just as poorly. The placement of the parts ... The placement of the parts on the sprues is illogical, say you are working with "A" parts tree, and you have several parts to go together, they are not only not next to each other, some are on another part tree entirely. The finish of the plastic is good, since it's Tamiya i'd expect nothing less, but the entire model is badly designed. You really have to do a lot of extra steps to make it how it should be, this is not an example of using modelling skills to make it better, it's an example of going out of your way just to make it how it should be to begin with! Honestly I'd say even the Lindberg T55 is better than this Tamiya model. So I say buy that, or literally anybody else's T55 model but this one, unless you enjoy a real challenge.
