My 13 month old has been walking for three months now. She really seemed to respond to music so when I looked for a dance or movement video and discovered this one. We own a ton of baby Einstein videos so I was happy to know they made this one. She loves it. The first few times she just watched and stared but now she really starting to move along with the video and copy what they're doing. I had thought originally it was a dance video but it isn't. Still she really likes it though and I'm glad we got it.

I had previously purchased Baby Einstein DVD's for my grandson who was born in June. Even at a few months old, he would be content to watch them & as he got old enough to coo & babble, he would "talk", kick his little legs & get so excited while watching the DVD's. I knew that he would enjoy the Baby's First Moves just as he does all the others he has. Very worthwhile purchase & I highly recommend them to any parent who is considering purchasing them. I wish I could have had them for my children who are both grown!!!!!
Learning methods are a little different then when my children were born. However, the basic premise remains the same. I have read many of the reviews and comments about watching TV. It is my opinion that combing video's (such as "Baby Einstein") with a great amount of interaction with your child can only be beneficial. The "Baby's First Moves" DVD is a great addition to the DVD collection we have for our 9 month old granddaughter. No child should be left in front of a TV for hours just watching. These DVD's give parents, care givers and grandparents a perfect opportunity to INTERACT with their young. To teach through sight, sound and repetition. I believe it actually helps your child focus their attention and learn to absorb many different areas of learning. I believe this combination gives our children the advantage of having practiced these skills they will need when entering school, especially for the first time. So have fun! "Baby Einstein" DVD's are simple, easy, musical and educational.Read full review
I'm a huge Einstein fan and bought most of the collection with my first child. Now we're on to child number two and I wanted to add some of the newer movies to my collection. Our second child is 4 months old and loves all the music titled Einsteins that say for 0 to 3 years on them. This movie says it's appropriate for age 3 months and up. He wanted nothing to do with it. It did NOT keep his attention. He can't do any of the moves in the movie and there were little to no children his age in the movie. They all looked 12 months and up to me and that's why they can do all the "first moves." It was a great movie that I have put away until he's older but for right now, under six months old, it's in my opinion marked wrong with the age they say it's appropriate for.
The name "Baby Einstein" can trick parents into believing it's okay or even good for their babies to watch it, but the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television AT ALL to children under 2 because so many studies have proven its harmful effects on children. Studies have shown that: - for every hour of television a baby watches a day, their chances of acquiring an attention deficit disorder increases by 10%. - among babies ages 8 months to 16 months, every hour spent daily watching programs such as 'Brainy Baby' or 'Baby Einstein' translated into six to eight fewer words in their vocabularies as compared with other children their age." - brain wave activity in babies is slower when watching television than when sleeping. "Signing Time" (Two Little Hands Productions) DVDs is an excellent option for OCCASIONAL video viewing because communicating in sign language with your child is proven to: - reduce frustration and tantrums - accelerate language development - promote parent-child bonding Last thing for new moms - carrying newborn babies (in arms or next to body) an extra 3 hours a day resulted in 40% less crying. So carrying baby in a carrier or sling can help calm fussy babies!Read full review
I had heard great things about this DVD so I decided to buy it for my son. He was 11 months old when I bought it and he LOVES it. He could sit there and watch almost the whole video without moving. For little ones that is not an easy thing to do. I think babies and kids just like seeing other babies and kids and watching them do things like dance and play. He also loved the puppets in the video. He is now almost 14 months old and is still as excited to see it now as he was when we first got it. I would say this was an excellent buy and I am looking into buying some more Baby Einstein DVDs. I highly recommend this product to all moms and dads.
Not an educational video, really...just a highly entertaining one. My 12 month old loves watching the babies and older children on it. Nice when I have to get something done, but I do my best not to rely on these videos as a rule or watch them with her when I can find the time. This particular video shows children playing, dancing, clapping, running, etc. to music. There are little puppet shows and clips featuring colorful toys throughout. I've seen it about a million and one times and it's cute.
It is a very cute movie! My daughter is only 12 weeks old and it captured her attention immediately the first time we watched it. She really likes the monkey and the giraffe. However, between segments, there are a few seconds of time where there is just a black screen. My child is hyper-alert and bores easily, and these pauses are just enough for her to start "complaining." But other than that she smiles and squeals and waves her arms around the whole time. Overall we both really love it.
My daughter is nearly 8 months old and loves Baby's First Moves, another classic from Baby Einstein. It follows the same format at the other BE DVD's, full of new words, classical music, and my baby's favorite puppet shows. My daughter also loves looking at and watching other babies, which are throughout this DVD. The babies are at different ages and stages, showcasing skills such as scooting, crawling, pulling up, walking and dancing. And my favorite is that it encourages parents to work with their child while watching the show, not simply plopping them in front of the tv.
Baby Einstein, Baby's First moves is great. Keeps my two year old attention. It is a great treat for him. Great series of videos.
