About this product

Product Information

At its height, Renaissance Florence was a centre of enormous wealth, power and influence. A republican city state funded by trade and banking, its often bloody political scene was dominated by rich mercantile families, the most famous of which were the Medici. This enthralling book charts their huge influence on the political, economic and cultural history of Florence, beginning in the early 1430's with the rise of the dynasty under the near-legendary Cosimo de'Medici, through their golden era as patrons of some of the Medici Popes and Grand Dukes, Florence's slide into decay and bankruptcy, and the end, in 1737, of the Medici line.

I appreciate getting the book, though someone packing the item wasnโ€™t careful and 6 pages had been folded, itโ€™s good to practice to make near more perfect. I appreciate it having arrived, thank you.

I received the book in a paper envelope and unfortunately it was affected by weather becoming wet and damaged. I contacted the seller and explained the circumstances. I was offered two options, 1) return the book for a full refund (seemed wasteful, unable to resell the book, incurs a cost for postage) or 2) receive a partial refund of $5.87 ($25.85 purchase price). I politely declined the offer of an arbitrary partial refund, and suggested that a paper book be posted inside a thin plastic sleeve
