This ia a recording of the 'Band of Friends' tour which took place in the early 80's. David's concert is a recording of a 'live' event and as such is filled with the atmosphere of 'Hutchmania' little girls weeping at the edge of the stage and all the madness of adoration. Ignoring this aspect of the recording, it is an excellent concert, with all the hits, and some of the lesser known songs. The lead guitarist is fantastic, he can make his guitar talk, so that with David Soul's gift as an excellent singer, and ability to 'sell' the songs, it is a recording which makes you smile with the joy of it all. The down side of the recording is that the quality is somewhat blurry in places, and a strange little mime artist pops up onto the stage from time to time during the songs. This is distracting in my opinion, and although he is probably very famous for what he does, I'm afraid mime leaves me stone cold. All in all, if you were a fan of David Soul's music (like myself) or were madly in love with his alter ego Kenneth Hutchinson AKA 'Starsky and Hutch' you will love this video.Read full review
I bought this dvd because I have been a David Soul fan since he did Magnum Force when I was 7 years old. I like his acting and his music but never got to see him perform live. I like this concert because it is pure basic music without any distracting background effects, it's just a man, his music and his band of friends. Good all round entertainment. A must for any David Soul fan.
It is really nice to hear the old songs again, the DVD shows David Soul at his best, live on stage. I bought the DVD predominantly for the Silver Lady track, but have enjoyed listening to all of the oldies again. A real blast from the past & would make a nice present for any David Soul fan.
