Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Multi-Track Recorders
If you prefer old school recording with outboard gear as opposed to computers and plug-ins these Sony PCM800 (or the Tascam DA88) are the bom. My Protool and Cubebase buddies laugh at me but when their computer has a glitch or just crashes the entire session goes down. I can get the dead quiet of digital recording with these and still run them as I would the old analog multitrack tape machines without the constant adjusting and calibrating. If you're syncing several of these babies together if one fails during a session you just remove it from the array and insert another and work continues. Also if you're doing audio for video work these cannot be beat. The price point is also outstanding in that you can probably find good working units online for a couple hundred bucks and can add another one into the mix whenever the finances or need dictates. So an 8 track studio can become a 16, 24, 32 or 48 incrementally as these can be synced up with a pw88s cable that can also be found online for reasonable dollars. I believe all these machines including the identical Tascam DA88 are made in Japan which means the quality is outstanding and should last you years if properly maintained (clean the heads periodically with a Hi-8 cleaning tape).Read full review
