The Links 5-Course Library, Vol. 4 is a collection of courses released by Access Software Incorporated during the early to mid-stage of the 1990s decade. The courses can be played on any one of seven previously released Links games as well as Microsoft Golf versions 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. Owners of Links LS, Links Pro CD, Links 386 CD, Links 386 Pro, Links Pro CD Macintosh, Links Pro Macintosh and Links -- The Challenge of Golf can install any or all of the courses. The games are also compatible with Links LS '99.
In addition to the five courses contained in the package, an updated program file is also included for Links LS '97, Links LS '98 and Links LS Macintosh. Courses included in Volume 4 are:
Hyatt Dorado Beach East Course that measures nearly 7,000 yards and plays to par 72. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this layout features lush tropical environments ranging from the sea to jungle-like areas. Located at a vintage spot in Puerto Rico, the course is a favorite of those combining golf with vacations.
Keeping the theme of their previous collections intact by issuing diverse golfing venues in one package, Access offers Castle Rock, Colorado's Castle Pines Golf Club, the longest on the PGA Tour. Nearly 7,500 yards and situated even higher up than Denver, the rarefied air and spectacular views highlight this Jack Nicklaus designed layout, host of the PGA's International event.
From Colorado, it's only a short click away to La Jolla, California and one of the earliest released Links courses: Torrey Pines. Vistas include breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean complemented by the steep canyons indigenous to the area.
Another west coast course, Pelican Hill Golf Club, also uses the canyons and bluffs of scenic Southern California to best advantage as every single hole is set against the background of the Pacific Ocean! Located in Newport Coast, this "Ocean Course" was carved into and becomes part of the natural beauty of the area north of Crystal Cove.
One of the most famous golfing venues used on a regular basis for the "majors" sponsored by the PGA is Bloomfield Hills, Michigan's Oakland Hills -- perhaps a California name but far from a west coast layout. Known as The Monster throughout the golfing community, this tough course has been used for U. S. Open competition as well as for PGA Championship events.
